Holding the Boy |
1. Push down your cuticles, preferably after a bath.
(her demonstration involved her using her thumb nail and shoving down my cuticle)
2. You will bleed once a month.
(not a big deal, she said, don't make it one)
3. Always wash glasses first, while the water is hot, and clean.
(years before I ever heard of a dishwasher)
4. Always wash pans last.
(grease won't get on the rest of the dishes, she said)
5. Mostly, it is easier to start over when knitting, then to fix it.
(unless you are close to the end)
Not so Purposefully:
1. Say nothing if you disagree. In fact try to
say nothing at all.
(especially if your father has a bad temper)
2. Do Not ever allow children to play inside, if at all possible.
(the house stays cleaner, and it is a borrowed moment of peace)
3. Better to just suck it up, and get the house work done.
(no one will listen if you complain)
4. Swearing is acceptable if you are ironing pleats.
(first time I ever heard her say damn, in fact, she said it multiple times as she stamped her foot, was while ironing said pleats.)
5. When your daughter gets married, make sure she has new undergarments.
(even if money is hard won)
